Update 1.4 – July 6, 2025
Since the last community update our team has expanded to help ensure we hit our projected date for the demo release. This update is one a lot of people have been clamoring for, us showing off how the Conqueror looks.
The 1st draft of the design was great, although we needed to make sure that it would be able to translate well into the engine. While the later drafts captured the original intention, it also became a piece that can stand on its own. Our lead artist did an amazing job with expanding on the ideas that were pitched while bringing his own unique interpretation. With the Conqueror we wanted to make sure the character was intimidating, but not as bulky as the Overlord. With so many people (including myself) hating the stiff walk animations our team was dead set on making sure that our character will be more mobile. With that being said, we still wanted our character to look tough, and worthy of being followed. We pulled from interesting and partially over the top character designs to have something that felt unique yet suitable for our genre.
Now you might think that the Conqueror is a man, but we are purposefully making the main character ambiguous. This way you can easily insert yourself into the character. In order to achieve that feel we purposefully made sure that the character had a closed helmet. Not only does it hide our character’s identity, but adds a level of intimidation. Nothing is more terrifying than not knowing who or what is enslaving you or hunting you down.
For those who watched the stream live (or you can find the VOD on twitch or youtube) we got an amazing new background. This was created by one of our amazing artists, Logan.
We continue to push forward not only in the art department, but all around.
