Community Update 1.1

Hello Conquerors!

Today’s update is a BIG one.

The team has been working behind the scenes to create the game we are all waiting for, and all the sweet insights you will see today.

Today’s update is focused on a crucial location in Conqueror: Reign of Madness;

But before we hop into this deep dive into our player home, we’re going to cover some major updates for the team going on behind the curtain.

Our Forces Grow:

In the past month, our team has grown significantly, and with that, we’ve been able to utilize the amazing new talent on the team to ramp up production significantly.

We’ve been able to organize into a very capable group of talent with new leadership positions in some of our departments, and an entirely new workflow in our project management.

What does this mean for you?

You now have several new team members joining the community! We are identifying our team in the Community Discord with the Developer role. Give these new names a warm welcome!

This also means the scale of our updates should be larger going forward, we’ll try our best to denote the size of each one in the number for each update. Ex. 1.03 vs 1.1

Building Towards Something Greater…

The team is hard at work on conqueror, but we are also hard at work on creating something else…

In order to support our team and work towards the commercial release of conqueror in future, we acknowledge that our team deserves an identity.

With that, we are working diligently to…

form a studio!

While we prepare a full announcement to be shared later, we aren’t yet ready to share our name.

You can expect to hear more from us on this in an official announcement and a studio website!

Today however, we are willing to share our mission statement with you, as we feel it does not just represent our team, but our community as well..

Mission Statement

We believe that the best work comes from those who have the passion, commitment, and understanding of what they do. Here, we strive to make games that not only our fans would like to play, but games we would like to play ourselves. This may come through various genres, tones, systems, characters, and settings; but regardless, we want to create games we are proud of. These are games made for gamers by gamers.

Planning A Conquest:

A game like Conqueror: Reign of Madness takes heaps of effort to produce.

Yet, for games at any scale, documentation is necessary to ensure a consistent vision, and to help our team hit all of our targets.

As we hear back from the community, we acknowledge our pace in being able to reveal more about the game you are excited for.

So, we have created a Community Friendly Development Document!

This document is a highly shortened version of our World Bible, with just a few articles to tease our world.

Further, we have made sure to include some articles from our additional documentation to give tastes beyond our worldbuilding!

What’s even better?

You can expect the Community World Bible to be updated along the way.

So without further ado, here is the document!

Keep, An Eye Opened

The Keep is the home base of the Conqueror and acts as the operating center for your conquest. Here, you’ll interact with your Kobold forces, explore various rooms, and venture out into the world.

A Keep, being the most secure part of a castle structure, is generally a square building behind the exterior walls of a fortification.

The Harbinger’s Keep is a tall structure, with no exterior surrounding walls, that sits atop a tall stone spire off the coast.

We’re going to walk you through some work-in-progress concept art and in-engine screenshots of the location!

Life Imitates Art:

Or, the game does?

Today we are going to show off some amazing artwork, with commentary from our Creative Director Tim, and our project manager, Jack.

It Takes A Village to Raze A Keep

This isn’t just all shiny, its really a horrible place with a dark history, and Lewry, our 3D environment artist dedicated to the keep, has been brainstorming everything from the layout to the logistics of the player’s navigation.

Lewry has been knocking it out of the park in-engine. The turnaround on this modeling work was impressive, and bringing our player home to life has been a magical undertaking.

Whose That Kobold?

Whelp that’s a teaser for next time!

That closes out March’s community update!

Thank you for your continued support, we are so excited to share more when we can!

Development for Conqueror: Reign of Madness is going well, we’re on track for our internal targets, and we’ll share more along about opportunities for the community to support development and be more involved!

Signing off,

Tim & Jack
